North American Championships
July 16-20, 2008
The American Section of the International 505 Class and the Columbia Gorge Racing Association
invite you
to participate in the 2008 505 North American Championship, July 16-20, in Cascade Locks,
Oregon. This regatta will be a featured event in the nationally
televised 2008 Gorge Games,
and competitors will be entitled to participate in all Gorge Games activities.

Gorge Games
The Gorge
Games, first held in 1994, is an annual celebration of outdoor sports in the
scenic Columbia River Gorge. This year's Games are expected to attract more than
1200 athletes to compete in 10 water and mountain sports competitions. The Games
also feature street parties, live entertainment, educational activities,
and a special Athletes Village for competitors. The event will be televised
on
FOX Sports Network. Admission to
all Gorge Games events is included with your regatta registration fee.
Eligibility
The regatta is open to all members of the International 505 Class.
All entries shall be helmed and crewed by full members of their national section
of the International 505 Class Association.
Venue
The Columbia River Gorge at Cascade Locks, Oregon
Scoring
The Low Point Scoring System, Appendix A4, will be used. 12 races are scheduled.
A minimum of
1 race must be completed to
constitute a regatta. When 5 or more races are completed, sailors may discard
their worst score. When 8 or more races are completed sailors may discard
their worst two scores.
Fees
Entry fee:
$250.00 per boat Discounted Entry fee
$150.00 per boat (skipper & crew under 25)
Late registration fee: $75.00 after
July 4, 2008
The entry fee includes refreshments after racing each race day, opening dinner
on Wednesday evening, regatta barbecue
on Saturday evening, admission to all Gorge Games events, and a regatta souvenir.

Visitor Information
Cascade Locks is located in the
heart of the beautiful Columbia River Gorge, 45 minutes east of Portland
International Airport on Interstate 84. Cascade Locks and surrounding
communities have a wide range of accommodations from camping to four-star resort
hotels (see visitor information).
