Group tuning discussion (boat setup, how to test) Coach: Charlie McKeeCharlie Mckee has been competing and coaching at the highest levels of sailing for nearly 30 years. He is a former world champion and Olympic bronze medalist in the 49er class and a member of Luna Rossa's 2007 America's Cup Challenge. Charlie was also a silver medalist in the 470 class at the 1988 Olympics and coach of the US Olympic Boardsailing Team in 1992. Coach: Andy MackAndy Mack was a member of the US Sailing Team from
1997–2004 in the 49er Class. He was US National Champion in 2002 and 2003, Coach: Ben GlassBen Glass is Head Coach of the Seattle Yacht Club Racing Team and was recently recognized by US Sailing as the “Developmental Coach of the Year” for 2007. A product of NW Youth Racing himself, Ben is an accomplished skiff sailor and match racer who has coached at all levels of the sport from junior sailing programs to the US Olympic Team Trials. |
Skiff Performance ClinicJuly 23-24, 2008As a prelude to the 29er US National Championships and Gorge Skiff Regatta, CGRA is pleased to host the 2008 Skiff Performance Clinic for 29ers, 49ers, and I-14s. This is a unique opportunity to tune up with some of the world's best skiff sailors in one of the world's most spectacular sailing venues! Coaching StaffCoaching will be provided by three world-class skiff sailors and coaches: Charlie McKee, Andy Mack, and Ben Glass (see sidebar for bios). ProgramThe goal of the Skiff Performance Clinic is to provide each participant with a clear action plan for improved performance. The emphasis will be on tuning, testing, and boat handling, utilizing both onshore chalk talks and on-the-water drills and short races.
