2009 WIND Youth Clinic & Regatta"Creating Future Generations of Champions"July 8-12, 2009
WIND is a comprehensive training clinic for young sailors ages 13-18. Coached by
an accomplished staff of champion sailors, this immersion program will focus on
performance sail trim, tactics and boat-handling in classroom and on the water
sessions. Coaches will also familiarize sailors with the ins and outs
of pursuing a National or Olympic campaign, including time management, money,
travel and personal commitment.
Participation is open to Laser, Laser Radial, Laser 4.7, 420, Vanguard 15 and 29er sailors. Laser sailors may bring interchangeable rigs for different wind conditions. Charters are available. Participants must be members of either US Sailing or the Canadian Yachting Association, and must submit a sailing resume before the event. Coaches review all resumes and tailor the event to the ability of the participants. Meals and refreshments will be provided for the participants. Please note: All youth sailors must be accompanied by a parent or chaperone. VenueThe clinic is held in the Marine Park at Cascade Locks, Oregon, in the heart of the famous Columbia River Gorge.
